About Our Founder​

From 1996 through 2020, our founder Gregg Jacobs spent at least 2 weeks each summer in Lake Tahoe. During that time, he developed a spiritual connection with the lake and it really became his place to re-charge his 'life battery.' Being in a boat pulling wake-surfers while playing great music and breathing the crisp alpine air was pure bliss for him.

In May 2022, Gregg moved there full-time with a plan to enjoy this environment for the rest of his life.  At that time, he came up with the idea of starting a business which offered luxurious, curated vacations in Lake Tahoe, taking all of the 'work' out of planning an amazing summertime Tahoe experience for visitors.  But then the winter of 2023 arrived, bringing 500+ inches of snow within 3.5 months, and he decided to move to Nashville.  

 

Knowing how social pickleball was, he decided to migrate from tennis, which he played for 50 years, to pickleball.  He quickly realized that pickleball was more than just a sport, it was about 'connecting' with other pickleball players in a unique and special way.  Pickleball combined the 'pick-up' nature of basketball with a sport that appeals to people aged 7 to 77 years old.  As he says, "there is no other sport that enables you to meet people, build community, have fun and compete the way pickleball does."

Our 'Eureka' Moment

​

Like with most start-ups, we had our Eureka moment.  In August 2025 when Gregg decided to move from Nashville back to Lake Tahoe (this time Reno though, to avoid 90% of Tahoe's snowfall), he revisited his vacation idea but he added a world-class pickleball experience to the mix.  Connecting the fastest-growing sport in the U.S. with a destination like Tahoe was the missing ingredient from the original idea.  

 

Gregg that Lake Tahoe had all of the resources (pickleball courts, nice hotels, beautiful golf courses, an abundance of outdoor adventure activities, incredible dining and cocktail experiences, and music) to pull this off; someone just needed to do it.  So, using his 35 years of being an entrepreneur, he created Paddles 'n Peaks --  the only truly curated destination vacation for pickleball and golf in the world -- and launched it on October 31st.

What Makes Us Better?

​

We are offering week-long vacation experiences from May 21 through October 28, 2026, which offers maximum flexibility before, during and after summer.

​

We are operating at least six courts in Incline Village and 3 courts in Tahoe Vista, giving us a capacity of 90 pickleball players per week -- double, if not triple, the capacity of any other offering.  There will be plenty of competition at ALL levels of play!

 

We are building a world-class instructor team with certified professionals from every corner of the U.S.

 

We are offering up to 39 hours of pickleball playing opportunity over 7 days, more than double the amount of any other pickleball vacation operator.

 

We are maintaining a guest-to-instructor ratio of 7:1, the lowest in the industry, enabling us to deliver a superior hands-on instruction experience to our guests.  

 

We are using an app called SportsBoard, which our founder created in another business venture he started 13 years ago, to evaluate each player when they arrive to (1) ensure we place them in the proper ability group, (2) continue to evaluate them over the week documenting our observations, and (3) deliver a digital evaluation with skills ratings, notes and video clips showing your improvement over the week.  

 

Why Not Golf, Too?

​For those pickleball players whose spouses/partners/companions play golf, we are offering unique golf experiences alongside pickleball.  Our golf experiences include the top golf courses in Tahoe -- Grays Crossing, Old Greenwood, Incline Village Championship course, and Incline Village Mountain course -- and we are working on Coyote Moon and Edgewood.  Unlike our pickleball offering, golf instruction is available for purchase optionally and is available at any of our partner courses.
