Rafa Hewett is a well-known prominent player in the world of professional pickleball. With a fierce competitive edge and relentless drive, he remains a force in both the PPA and MLP circuits.

 

Born in Bradenton, Florida, Rafa demonstrated athletic prowess from a young age. He trained at the esteemed Bollettieri Tennis Academy, where he excelled in tennis, while also participating in basketball and cross country. In 2012, he achieved the distinction of being ranked #1 in Idaho and top 10 in the Pacific Northwest for junior tennis. His collegiate career at Point University in West Point, Georgia, was marked by leadership as team captain, leading his team to nationals during his time there.

 

After graduating from Point, Rafa served as the Director of Pickleball at Moore’s Mill Country Club in 2021 and also managed his family's cattle ranch and winery in Idaho.

 

Rafa jumped into the professional pickleball tour in 2019, and has become one of the most vocal and determined athletes on tour. At his pickleball peak, Rafa achieved rankings of top 10 in singles and top 15 in doubles. His most notable accomplishments include two MLP championships, four MLP finalist appearances, a silver medal in Men's Pro Singles at the PPA Atlanta Open, and gold medals in both Mixed and Men's Doubles at the APP Alabama Classic, and numerous bronze medals at various events. 

 

Off the court, Rafa is committed to being the best father to his two children, Peaches and Mills. He is passionate about sharing his love for sports with his family and inspiring future generations of athletes, at whatever level they wish to play.
